Philadelphia's underdog anti-hero, Mike Bell returns for the first full length with the full "Movies" band. The result is a power pop beauty. 12 songs of indie power pop with hooks and fun poppy sing alongs. Mike's been knowingly, un-embarrassingly openly in love with green day and weezer. This album shows his love for short catchy pop tunes that you can both jump around drunk to while pounding your bloody fists into the air... as well as awkwardly slow dance with your favorite friend that you wish was your lover. Mike's not married... in fact, none of the movies are.
Evan's guitar solos are so superbly perfect that you might want to hear more of this intelligence in his own band that he fronts called The Weaks. Hear that bass tone? That's Peter Helmis, former frontman/bass god in that be happy alumnus Algernon Cadwallader. Joe was in that band too, but he didn't play drums in anything else that I can remember, but damn he did a great job didn't he?
